The Halton Food Council has been in action since November 2009. We are proud of our many accomplishments to date:

• The Halton Food Charter endorsed by Regional Council in December 2011
• Held three community forums bringing great speakers to Halton and getting input from our community about direction and focus
• Completed a community food assessment
• Developed two workgroups who are actively working on our two priorities: community gardens; and community food centres.

Currently we are seeking applicants for the three openings on the Halton Food Council which will bring us to the 12 voting members as per our Terms of Reference.

We are looking particularly for people with experience or expertise in the following areas:

• Research/Academia
• Economic Development
• Food Industry

• Join our network – receive emails and updates from the Halton Food Council

• Volunteer on a working group – work groups have not been formed yet. Please feel free to send in your ideas (e.g. community gardens workgroup, food bank workgroup, farmer's market workgroup, etc.)
