The Halton Food Council has been in action since November 2009. We are proud of our many accomplishments to date.

Halton organizations and individuals are encouraged to endorse the Halton Food Charter to support a food system which benefits our regional community and environment. How you can endorse the charter.


The Halton Food Council (HFC) is recruiting new members, including a representative with a Youth voice, with the following background:

a.   Knowledge of the food system and

b.   Skills and/or experience in any of the following areas: education, communications, food policy, advocacy, research, food industry

If you are interested in food and want to be part of the changing landscape, please review the membership package (application form, Halton Food Charter, and HFC Terms of Reference). Join a Group

There are two active workgroups associated with the Halton Food Council.

Community Gardens workgroup: is working to facilitate the development of community gardens in Halton and the development of a community garden network in Halton.

Community Food Collaborative workgroup: is meeting to facilitate the development/creation of community food collaboratives in Halton.
