Welcome to the 2017 Farmers’ Market Season

Normally I'd be reporting to you directly from a market venue, but this year, I wanted to make sure you know where to get the best food Halton has to offer as soon as those markets open! So, as I eagerly await my first taste of fresh Ontario spring produce (asparagus, leafy greens, fresh herbs!!), I am combing the internet for the most up-to-date information on when and where you can fill those reusable bags at the farmers’ market near you.

This information is particularly important because this month’s recipe from Rachel’s Kitchen is all about the seasonal rhubarb, and I know you will want to rush out and get yourself some rhubarb to cook up in your own kitchen asap. Okay, here's what to do: First, check Rachel’s Rhubarb Chutney recipe for all the ingredients you need. Then, grab some cash (it's better than plastic at the market) and your reusable bags (also better than plastic at the market), check the opening dates below, and get to a farmers’ market! The spring harvest will be gone before you know it.
