Celebrate March break with sweet local food adventures

March is a great month for some sweet local food adventures. It's the time of year where spring is in sight, sap is moving in our maple trees, and rich maple syrup is flowing straight into my belly! As far as I'm concerned, there are only two seasons in Halton: maple, and not maple. This most wonderful time of the year doesn't last long though, so hurry up and get yourself to a sugar bush!

Last weekend, the fearless reporting team of Roxy and Isabel had the tough assignment of heading to Mountsberg’s Maple Town and doing some very serious taste tests. My thanks to the young ladies for sharing their photos!

Here's a list of some maple-y fun activities happening in and around Halton Region right now:

Maple Syrup Festival at the Terra Cotta Conservation Area in Halton Hills

Open weekends March 4 - April 2, 2017, and March Break (March 11-19) from 9:30am - 5:00pm.

Maple Town at Mountsberg Conservation Area in Campleville

Open weekends February 25 – April 2, and March Break (March 11-19) from 10am - 4pm.

There’s a number of other Halton Farms and Conservations Areas with weekend and March Break activities. Check them out here.

If you don't make it to an event, you can always buy some of the best local maple syrup at one of Halton's farmers' markets which will be opening soon. Join me next month for my first market haul of the year and a look at the freshest Spring produce in the Region. Get your reusable bags ready...
